Copyright Services

What is Copyright

Copyright allows you, and only you, to turn your original, creative works into money. It is that simple. Whether a song, a film, a software, a sculpture, a photo, or something else, you own it and have the right to do whatever you want with it just like you own a house or a car: sell it, allow others to pay you and use it, earn a living on it, and more. People pay for streaming of your movies, tickets of your concerts, and subscription fees of the apps you developed—all because you own...

That's right, copyright!

Why Protect Copyright

Because you worked hard to create the good stuff, you deserve the profits from it.

You don't want others to make copies of your hard work, or even worse, sell them or display them in an art show without your permission; you don't want others to hold concerts featuring your songs or film a movie based on your novel without your permission. You don't want "thieves" to stifle your creativity and bother your life.

But you don't want to comment on other people's works but have to pay them first; you don't want to cite other people's works in your academic research but have to pay them first; you don't want to get into trouble with somebody you don't even know because you created something similar to theirs by coincidence. You want fairness.

But how would you navigate the complicated world of copyright? What if you are already in a copyright trouble? Seasoned professionals at He's Law Office can help!

Services

Our attorney has experience representing and advising musicians, bands, orchestras, filmmakers, designers, nonprofits, and entrepreneurs in a wide range of copyright prosecutions, management strategies, transactions, and disputes, achieving favorable outcomes—including in cases against highly resourceful and aggressive legal teams of major international media and multinational corporations. Below are the copyright services we offer:

Registration & Commercialization

Without registering your work with the U.S. Copyright Office, you lose the rights to bring a lawsuit in a federal court, to claim at least $750 and up to $300,000 of statutory damages per infringement, to recover attorney's fees from the infringer, and thus lose any leverage in a settlement battle even if you don't plan to sue.  You lose the deterrence effect upon potential infringers. You also lose the strong evidence of copyright ownership and clearance when you want to sell or license your work to others, and they likely care a lot about it—just like you want to make sure you are not investing in some unlawful stuff!

Registering is better than nothing, but it can be done too late. But you don't have to be overwhelmed by the complicated registration process and the outdated online portal—simply get in touch with He's Law Office and let us cook, now!

Takedown & Enforcement

Oops! Someone is selling, making, or posting materials that infringe your copyright! But don't be afraid: the Digital Millennium Copyright Act allows you to send a takedown notice to the online service provider, such as social media platforms, to remove the infringing materials; the copyright and federal civil procedure statutes permit injunctive orders to stop the infringers from continuing to mess up with your copyright, immediately and/or permanently... Our laws have been evolving for centuries, and now, they have your back—whether your copyright is under threat or you are being wrongfully accused.

But you do not have to master all these laws. All you need is an unstoppable legal team at He's Law Office!

Consultation, Management, Acquisition & Licensing

Thank you for your years of efforts to make this planet a more beautiful one. Now you have created lots of copyrighted works, and even better, people are contacting you for a permission to use them, distribute them, perform them, display them, or recreate them. But if you exhaust valuable time and energy on sorting out what rights you have and how others should transact with you, how would you focus on your most favorite job—creating more works? Your fans are waiting for more creativity from you, and if the legal matters are occupying your days and nights or confusing you in the wind, it's a loss to our world.

It's time to work with the professionals at He's Law Office to manage your rights, design and implement domestic and global copyright protection strategies, monitor infringements, draft and negotiate copyright-related agreements and joint authorships, and more. Record label and talent agency clients are welcome, too—free your hands from the legal hassle and do the best for your artists!

Litigation & Dispute Resolution

If you have not been in a lawsuit, your business is not successful enough. You have probably heard of that, but resolving a copyright dispute, whether through court litigation, mediation, or arbitration, can be stressful, intimidating, time-consuming, and exhausting no matter if you are the copyright holder or the alleged wrongdoer. A tiny mistake or neglect in the process can significantly or completely damage your positions. This is the dramatic aspect of litigations and negotiations inherent in the history of laws, but we will have your back in settlement negotiations, before mediators, arbitrators, the Copyright Claims Board, and courts.

Your efforts to amicably resolve a copyright dispute has gone in vain? Received cease-and-desist letters or summons? Now you need a team of legal professionals at He's Law Office who will fearlessly and competently walk you through the roaring legal storm—until the sun shines again.
